Becoming a Mountain Biker

9. Hardtail or a fully?
When mountain biking started in the early 1980s, the
bikes were all without any suspension. In the middle of
1990s, suspension forks (front suspension) started to
invade the market and became standard by the end of the
decade. At that time full suspended bikes stared the
invasion as well, and are slowly taking over today.
A decent suspension fork can prevent many a fall over
the handlebar, whereas rear suspension only adds to
comfort and results in much higher speed of riding,
which consequently leads to more serious injuries in a
case of an accident! It is up to you then.
