5. Mud
You should use special mud guards on your mountain
bike and not the ordinary ones, which are used on the
classic city bikes, since they don't have enough
clearance and get easily filled with mud. The front
mudguard is usually on the bike from October until
March, the complete rainy season.
If it is really wet
with puddles everywhere, then it is wise to use the rear
mudguard as well to insure dry bottom. These are usually
attached to the seat post in order to have enough clearance over
the rear tire.
