1. Introduction

Don't let the snow in the pictures fool you. They were taken in August and high altitude over 2500 m is the reason for the snow. 

Not a big deal for a mountaineer. But for a mountain biker it is quite an altitude. Especially, if the starting point is far down in the valley below 1000 m.

It is usually quite difficult to reach such height by bike, since simply there are only few suitable trails, at least in Slovenia. Well, in this connection I don't want to even think about asphalt mountain passes.
