A nice ride in the vicinity of the magnificent Predjama castle

It has never happened to me before that a tour would be just right on the first ride. When I prepare a tour and look at the maps, I always take into account that the real situation will be quite different form the one in the maps. Usually a tour is done perfectly only after a few test rides. But at this time, everything was perfect already on the first ride.

Starting point

Zaga Belsko (zaga = a sawmil) is situated at the road crossing, 6 km north of Postojna in direction of the village of Studeno.

Trail description

The terrain is very interesting. It changes all the time, form a muddy cart track at the beginning to rocky macadam and grassy singletrack at the end. The trail is a typical cross country ride, very much up and down all the time. There are also some magnificent views, from the top of Sv. Lovrenc you can see almost the whole landscape of Notranjska. The trail passes the exceptional Predjama castle, which is build right on a cliff, at the entrance to a system of Postojna caves. This is something you have to see!

Other possibilities

Landscape in this part of Notranjska region is very suitable for MTB. There are numerous single and cart tracks and macadam roads, which offer endless possibilities for riding. I suggest that you take a look at the trail map posted at the entrance to the village of Studeno (in direction from Postojna).
